Reviews

The busy illustrations have prompted lots of interesting conversation.
(Books I Read My Son blog)

This simple but effective picture book captures the reasons young children have for choosing what they want to be 'when I grow up'.

Young Dexter spends a philosophical five minutes at bedtime pondering possible future careers - ranging from food critic 'because I love to eat and I love to cook' to a 'fearless window washer' after he has designed the world's tallest skyscraper.

A positive portrayal of a black child, Dexter is anxious to make a life plan but maybe not in one night! It is worth noting that this book is a follow up to What Will I Be? in which the main character is a girl.
